چکیده

Pregnancy is a physiological condition characterized by a progressive, weeks of gestationdependent increase in maternal triglycerides (hypertriglyceridemia) and total cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia) [1-4]. In some cases a misadaptation occurs and these levels increase over a physiological range and dyslipidemia is recognized [5]. This condition occurs in some pregnancies coursing without associated pregnancy alterations [i.e., maternal supraphysio‐ logical hypercholesterolemia (MSPH)] and in pregnancies coursing with pathologies as preeclampsia and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) [3, 5].

Maternal Periodontitis, Preeclampsia and Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes

Background and Aim: Preeclampsia is a considerable problem of pregnancy. Endothelial dysfunction and placental hypoxia are the current hypothesis of preeclampsia. Chronic inflammation, including periodontitis may provoke systemic maternal and placental pro-inflammatory endothelial dysfunction, which represent a significant risk factor for diseases of vascular origin. So this study was carried o...

Role for Tetrahydrobiopterin in the Fetoplacental Endothelial Dysfunction in Maternal Supraphysiological Hypercholesterolemia

Maternal physiological hypercholesterolemia occurs during pregnancy, ensuring normal fetal development. In some cases, the maternal plasma cholesterol level increases to above this physiological range, leading to maternal supraphysiological hypercholesterolemia (MSPH). This condition results in endothelial dysfunction and atherosclerosis in the fetal and placental vasculature. The fetal and pla...

Is a low level of free thyroxine in the maternal circulation associated with altered endothelial function in gestational diabetes?

Synthesis of thyroid hormones, thyroxine (T4) and tri-iodothyronine (T3), in the human fetus starts from 17 to 19th weeks of gestation. Despite the majority of normal pregnant women reaching adequate levels of circulating thyroid hormones, in some cases, women with normal pregnancies have low level of free T4 during first trimester of pregnancy, suggesting that T4 action may be compromised in t...
